This stunning apartment is on the ground floor of a former olive mill and retains the mill’s grinding stones and other features. This is a unique property, with beautiful outside space, as well as stylish interiors. It is a wonderful option for 4 people who would like to relax in peace but perhaps venture out to explore the historic sites and famous towns close by.
The apartment is full of character with slightly arched ceilings and terracotta tiled floors. The elegant living area is furnished with a flat-screen TV and a comfortable corner sofa opposite the large, open fireplace which is open on both sides. Arched French windows lead out onto the lovely vine-covered terrace. Back indoors, guests will find a dining table and chairs and a brick archway which leads into a separate kitchen. The newly fitted kitchen has a cooker, oven, fridge/freezer and coffee machine. There is a breakfast bar with stools for a quick cup of coffee or a snack.
The outside space, has been created with as much care and attention as the interiors. The private terrace is shaded with vines and is furnished with a dining table for relaxed meals al fresco. Through an archway, guests will find their own jacuzzi, which is covered but has views out over the gardens. Wide steps lead down to the shared garden. At the end of this is the beautiful swimming pool, where guests can relax on sun loungers under the parasols.

The village of Vaiano is just 2km from the Tuscan border so makes the perfect base for visitors who want to explore Umbria and Southern Tuscany. Castiglione del Lago (15 minutes), with its medieval castle that dominates the lakeshore, offers wonderful views over the beautiful Lake Trasimeno. The ancient Etruscan city of Chiusi is just 10 minutes away, in Tuscany. It is less well-known than other Tuscan sites so not as busy. Visitors can enjoy the town’s cathedral, museum and palaces, as well as Tuesday’s weekly market, where you can find regional delicacies to enjoy on the spot or to take home. For some of Italy’s finest wines, the town of Montepulciano is just 35 minutes away.
The capital of Umbria, Perugia is 50 minutes away. It is well worth a visit, as is the famous town of Assisi (1 hour) birthplace of St Francis and a site of pilgrimage.
