Our conveniently located, light-filled home is a 2-minute drive or 10-minute walk from the Davos Dorf train station and a 10 minute walk (750m) to the Parsennbahn, the entrance to the world renowned Davos-Parsenn ski area. While the perfect location for skiers, the house is also a beautiful launching pad for summer hikes in the Alps and has a sunny south facing terrace and large lawn with a glorious view of the mountains, perfect for a relaxing family gathering. Please note that in winter you may need a 4WD vehicle or tire chains, as one of the roads leading up from the village is quite steep. There is a 1.5 car garage to park your vehicle and store your skis or other equipment.
The house, built in 1977 and remodeled in 2004, is 243 m2 (just over 2600 ft2) on 1233 m2 (nearly 1/3 acre) of land. The elevation approximately 1610m (5282ft) above sea level.
North American guests please note that the house is built in European style and does not conform to today's US codes for safety. For example, the stairs curve and are a bit steeper than one would find in modern American homes. Although we allow children, please be aware that the house is not child-proof or baby-proof.
As you enter the house, there is a vestibule/foyer with shelves on left to stash your ski boots, gloves, or hiking gear. Passing through the next door, you will come to a hallway, with a coat closet straight ahead. Turning left you will pass a stairway leading the downstairs (more on that later) and get to a kitchen with gleaming granite countertops, an electric stove, oven and steamer, as well as smaller appliances to make coffee, boil water, toast, etc. On from the kitchen is a long dining room table with 10 comfortable padded chairs. A large sideboard on one side holds a large supply of dishes, teacups, and even a raclette oven and fondue set. The dining room opens onto a spacious and cozy living room with a U-shaped sofa facing the fireplace. Large windows above a long window seat expose a beautiful view of the alps, and sliding doors lead onto a sunny terrace in the summer.
As you retrace your steps back through the hall, past the foyer, you will see two bedrooms on your left: first with double bed, desk and wardrobe; second with 4 bunks and a built in wardrobe for clothing and gear. On your right are a powder room/guest toilet, and a full bathroom shared between the two singe bedrooms. Continuing down the hall, you come to the master bedroom with ensuite bathroom (separate shower and tub), huge walk-in closet and circular nook with two desks and a window seat.
Next, we go back past the foyer to the staircase and descend into a hallway that leads to laundry room (washer, dryer, large sink), guest bedroom on the left, and second living room straight ahead. This guest bedroom has bay windows and a small sitting area as well as an ensuite bathroom and generous sized closet. The downstairs living room has a glorious view of the Alps, and in summer, doors open onto a terrace and large lawn area. This room has a fireplace, two separate sitting/lounging areas and a third space with built in table and bench in Swiss chalet style. The living room leads onto another guest bedroom with ensuite bathroom, large closet, and magnificent view.
Please note that although the beds in the master BR and 2 downstairs BRs are roughly King sized, they are the Swiss style beds that have 2 twin mattresses closely pushed together inside the bedframe, with a large fitted sheet that covers both mattresses.
